Description:
"Oh my Gosh! Oh my God! Channel 3 and Channel 15 just had a mid-air collision! They're in the park," shouted one of the people inside the other helicopter. Two news choppers were involved in a fatal accident over Phoenix. The news helicopters were covering a police pursuit in central Phoenix. Both helicopters plunged to the ground and burst into flames. Phoenix Police Chief Jack Harris suggested the suspect involved in the chase could be held responsible for the deaths from this tragedy. The dead included the two pilots and the two cameramen who were shooting video of a white truck that was being pursued by police. At the time of the crash Friday there were six helicopters in the air following the pursuit of a carjacking suspect, one Phoenix police helicopter and five from local news stations. They all wanted to be in the same place at the same time to follow the chase. I don't know how this guy kept it together as he reported on the sudden death of his colleagues. They died trying to "get that great shot" of the car chase. |

SElsden ::: Favorites I agree with this guy. Anyone who thinks that the guy running on the groung should be charged is a douche. 07-08-01 22:23:19 _____________________________________________________

Duran2SingBlueSilver ::: Favorites I'm just curious to know....how would you react if you had just witnessed 4 people plunge to their deaths?? That remark was idiotic. There is nothing "LMAO" about this situation. You should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking something like that. 07-08-02 02:14:01 _____________________________________________________
dr1v3by ::: Favorites It's what someone else said in another posting associated with this story. I just thought I'd try it too, lol. How would I feel if I witnessed this? Probably pretty shocked. Mainly because I'm not used to seeing stuff like this all the time like our soldiers do EVERYDAY in Iraq. There's 4 or more of them killed everyday! 07-08-02 02:46:46 _____________________________________________________
Duran2SingBlueSilver ::: Favorites I am not talking about our soldiers in Iraq. This was a man who is NOT a combat soldier witnessing coworkers being killed infront of his very eyes. Of course he's going to hyperventilate and be under distress. THATS what I was offended by your lack of taste comment. That is why I asked how you would you react to that situation. I dont think you would so cool and calm while on air describing what you have just seen. Apparently this is still a funny topic to you tho... What a shame. 07-08-02 04:12:45 _____________________________________________________
fftllovexo ::: Favorites like 50 plus people saw the wreck. it so weird.. right in indian steele park. ive been there thousands of times, and im so glad people werent walking under it. theyre building a memorial there for scott and jim. we are all thankful the helicopters didnt hit the veterans hospital, and the veterans retirment home. 07-08-02 12:05:54 _____________________________________________________
BreakfastBacon ::: Favorites That is seriously ridiculous. The guy runnning from the police is not responsible for the crash. Come on. 07-08-02 23:50:14 _____________________________________________________
dougapepper ::: Favorites such a horrible tragedy. but, maybe they should stop trying to follow all of those ridiculous car chases. also, the guy being chased should NOT be charged. 07-08-03 00:49:02 _____________________________________________________ |
