You don't have to view House/Wilson as romantic to admit that they love each other. Just saying. Of course he loves him. You can see this scene as platonic friendship love, or you can see it as something more. cynthiailly ::: Favorites If that line was just played for laughs then Hugh wouldn't have said it in such a serious tone and there wouldn't have been the somber music following his remark. House has a habit of not wanting to show his emotions (remember the way he tried to take back his apology to Wilson in Words & Deeds?) and trying to mask his real feelings so he used that as an excuse to tell Wilson that he truly does care for him.
